Privacy Policy
The short version. Wizkitty collects anonymous gameplay data so we can balance and improve the game. We don't ask for your name, email, or any account. We don't build a profile of you, we don't sell your data, and we don't run ads. That's it.
This policy explains what the game Wizkitty and the Tower of Doom, Gloom, and Other Bad Stuff collects, why, and what choices you have. It covers analytics gathered inside the game itself.
Who we are
The game is made by Imperfect Fun. If you have any privacy questions or requests, email us at privacy@imperfectfun.com.
What we collect
While you play, the game sends anonymous, aggregated telemetry about how the game is played. This includes things like:
- Gameplay events — runs started and finished, characters chosen, cards and relics picked, crafting outcomes, difficulty/ascension tier, wins and losses, and where runs tend to end.
- Technical & performance info — game version, platform and operating system, general hardware class, in-game settings, and crash or error reports.
- A random install identifier — generated locally on your device to tell one play session apart from another. It is not linked to your real-world identity, your Steam account, or any contact details.
- Approximate region — a coarse country/region estimate derived from your IP address at the moment data is received. We do not store your IP address, and we do not collect precise location.
What we do not collect
- Your name, email address, or any account login.
- Payment information — purchases are handled entirely by the store you buy from (e.g. Steam), under their own privacy policies.
- Precise location data.
- Advertising identifiers, and we do not use the data for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Why we collect it
We use this data purely to make the game better — balancing cards and encounters, fixing bugs and crashes, understanding which content players actually use, and deciding what to build next. Because the data is anonymous and not tied to your identity, we rely on our legitimate interest in improving the game (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) as the basis for processing it.
Who processes the data
We use PostHog as our analytics provider. Data is collected through PostHog Cloud in its EU region and is hosted on servers in the European Union. PostHog acts as our data processor and handles the data on our behalf. You can read more in PostHog's privacy policy.
How long we keep it
We keep analytics data only as long as it's useful for understanding and improving the game, after which it is deleted or retained only in aggregated form that cannot be tied back to an individual install.
Your choices and rights
If you'd prefer not to share anonymous analytics, contact us at privacy@imperfectfun.com and we'll help you opt out.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data:
- EU / UK (GDPR): the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your data, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know what we collect, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Because the data we collect is anonymous and not linked to your identity, we may not be able to locate data about a specific person. To help us act on a request, include your random install identifier (shown in the game's settings) so we can find the matching records.
Children
Wizkitty is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 (or under 13 in the United States). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
